Xperience with ShareSWF.com

"Build something that jumps Curve", a saying by Guy Kawasaki really inspired me to build up ShareSWF.com, A site for Uploading and Sharing Flash Animations from every diverse field. The site got a good startup review from KillerStartups.com, Pluggd.in and numerous Italian, French and Chinese Websites. I got a call from NITIE College, Mumbai (I haven't heard about the college, until my friends told me how prestigious it was) for presenting the Business Plan of ShareSWF.com, but they were not knowing, I was not eligible as I am just a student.

But The most amazing thing happened, since launch of ShareSWF.com on September 12, was the E-Mail, I accidently send to Venki(I thought he was some sort of editor at Rediff) but he came out to be the CEO of Rediff.com. And to my amazement, I got the Reply, and the Reply was equally fascinating.

The Reply was from the Vice President, Technology @ Rediff.com, and I am exactly pasting the Mail, as I got.

Hi! Neeraj,

This is Sumit from Rediff.com. Venki has forwarded the email to me to take the discussions forward. I have gone thru the ShareSWF experience. Good effort put it. I have a set of questions as well.
What is the best method to take it forward? Will a conf call work or face-2-face meeting?

R's, / S.

Eventhough they had not profiled the ShareSWF till now, but just the Reply got me the feeling that the product, I build is something that had jumped curve. Today some 2 Months later I got 500th registration at ShareSWF. Still lot has to be improved in ShareSWF. But frankly I started loving ShareSWF.com. Please Comment.

My Xperience With Opening New Business

Today I am writing about How we got the idea and all those stuff about opening the business and also the after consequences of starting the Business.

Well opening a business for first time is the toughest thing I ever faced (I think even more tougher than passing those semester exams). To start with I along with my brother opened the Business of Website Development and Training at Mansarover Complex. Eventhough its tough to open a new business but really its very interesting stuff happening around me. When you are paying something around 15K per month as Rent, you have to fasten things around you. And I think that is the only reason development of a website which earlier took me some 1 Month to complete (while visiting the colleges regularly), Now takes just about 1 Week (Ya, certainly without visiting the college).

When I had just enrolled to my engineering, I always thought to build the Website of my college. But some books and my brother advice shifted me to do something for myself rather than doing for someone else. And its really a fact that when you do something for yourself and do it brilliantly, people automatically approaches you to do something for them ( and even then they didn't hesitate to pay for it ). After doing some great stuff in the Web Development field which ofcourse is a booming industry and then opening my own company. People start to look at you. And really thats the case with me. Something in around last 2 months, I have met with Directors and principle of 2-3 colleges like my own Oriental, LNCT, Corporate etc. Dean and the TPO of my college called me to design the website of some conference on Knowledge Management that is going to take place in Nov, 2009, earlier the things which like designing website for college looks good for me, now I don't even like doing all that stuff. And "Do little, but do something for yourself" is really the stimulus mantra for me which led to opening of our Company.

Talking something about our Company, Me and my brother always have though to open a company. But the plans grounded only 4 days before my 4th Semester exams. We have funds and fixed a space on Rent at Mansarover (And ofcourse there were my Xams too). I must say I am really lucky, that my xams postponed for some 10 days at the time, I deadly needed it. That reminds me of the book I read "The Alchemist" which says "When you really want to do something, the Universe conspires in helping you to achieve it". ( Well I must also say some thanks to our University, which ofcourse helps its students as much as the Universe does ).

So in that time We settled our Company and Now currently it is in 3rd Month and I must say running better than we expected earlier. We did some 4 Website Development Projects in past 2 months and developed some Websites involving students, We have trained some 25 students in PHP ( Which I think is the great language, I ever learned. And I owe my little success to PHP too) ever since. When I started learning PHP, no one knews about the PHP (but it started making me few bucks since start) , its such a powerful language that in just 1 year lots of people started to know about it. And I must say every one must learn something that is not known by everybody and since the language is not known by everyone, Unlike .NET it is less competitive and the advantages of doing something in Web Development field is immense.

Did you like the post, leave me some feedback in the Comments Section. :)

My First Part Time Job Xperience with Company

I am writing about my experience working with a company in Bhopal. I am an engineering student of the 4th semester, when the opportunity for working with a Company strike me. I used to build websites and also got featured in some of the good news paper here. This is the main reason I think lots of opportunity like this happens to take place.

I was sitting in my room, when one of my friend who is working in a govt job arrived; He said, Neeraj I have got to do some work for project management in a company here in Bhopal, But I am very busy in schedule to do the work for the Company. So He asked me whether I am Interested in doing the Work. I asked him what type of work it is. He said you have to do the Management of the whole project (Project was for Setting up an Oil Refinery Plant in Australia) through PERT charts etc. I have never heard anything about the PERT Charts but I said OK, I will try. Next Day, He took me along with him to that Company Manager. The Company Manager explained that the work of Project Management is to be done in the software known as Microsoft Project for an Australian Company which is going to setup some vegetable oil plant. Then He asked my friend if he can do the work. My Friend said he was too busy with his own work but he referred me to them that I can do the work. But They Infact did not agree to make me do their work, They were more interested to outsource the work of Project Management to a firm in Pune. I think the main point why they have no confidence over me, was my age and also the project was big and complicated enough and they don’t want to make any mistakes. I said to the Manager, I will try to do the work and if they are satisfied by my work of 2 days then only I will continue. They gave me the task for 2 days. I surfed the Internet, How this Management is done. That was really an interesting task in my hand that time and I did it on my own with a little bit of telephonic help from my friend (Thanks to Internet). I took the work to the Manager the third day. He asked me a lot of questions about the Work (That reminded me of the External Viva in which I usually sit quietly without disturbing anyone). But as I remember, I answered all of his queries. At last He was highly impressed by the quality of my work. That’s the same days only and he asked what amount should the Company pay you for completing the initial project management, I said I will consult and tell you tomorrow. OK. Then I was home I asked the same friend and family, most of them said ask about 5000 Rs. But there is something inside me that was saying that the work was worth more amount. The next day arrived I impressed them again with the 4th day work. This time they asked me what should we pay. I thought and I said (with a bit of confidence) 30000, Ya I said thirty thousand and the person in front of me smiled. He gone to his boss, and I can see through the glass cabin the expression of the boss was also of surprise, they expected me to tell amount something between 3000-5000 Rs. But he asked his cashier to make a check of 10000 immediately (Wow that’s my first salary). I thought myself, 4 days Ten thousand rupees thats a lot of money for some 6 hours of total work. Then I worked for 3 more days, skipped the full day CSO classes in the College and the 7 days of work completed the initial project management design. Then I explained the whole work to the Director of the Company and he was quite impressed. The Director himself taken the whole Project Management Report to Sydney. And I phoned the Manager to know, How was the response there. He told me the project report was good enough for the start of actual project and they were really satisfied by the work. And He asked me to quote my price on the visit basis for any changes in the project report due to delays etc in the any of the works in the time frame of 2 Years. As Project was scheduled to be completed in 2 Years time. And Ya after return of the Company Director from Sydney, I got the rest 20000 as well. After getting the whole lot of 30000, I was sitting with the Manager watching the Videos in his Mobile of his trip to Shanghai(China). I asked him leisurely, Sir How much is the cost of this whole project. And He replied the Project Budget is 250 Crore. I was quite amazed by the Project Budget. I haven't quote the Charges on Per Visit Basis. But I said to myself maybe it would be HAPPY QUOTING!!!
